FOR THE ONES WHO KNOW THERE'S MORE TO THE STORY

Healthier People. Healthier Dogs. Healthier Planet.

You ask questions.

You want to understand why.

And you're not interested in simply quieting a symptom without understanding what might be behind it.

Neither are we.

Roots & Paws is for people who want to dig deeper, make informed choices, and create healthier lives for themselves, the animals they love, and the world they share.

THREE Paths. One Philosophy.

You may be here for your health, your dog's health, the health of the world around you, or maybe all three. Wherever you begin, we believe health is about more than addressing what's happening on the surface.

It's about asking better questions, understanding what may be happening beneath the symptoms, and recognizing how nutrition, lifestyle, environment, and the world around us are connected.

Because when we understand more, we can make more informed choices for ourselves, the animals we love, and the planet we share.

That's what it means to heal, nurture, and regenerate.

Heal

Look beyond the symptoms.

Health is connected. We dig deeper to understand the whole picture and help people make more informed choices for themselves and the animals they love.

Nuture

Care for what matters.

People, animals, communities, and the natural world all need environments that allow them to thrive. We believe in caring for the whole ecosystem, not just one piece of it.

Regenerate

Leave things better than we found them.

From our health and our animals to our soil and planet, we believe in choices that restore, rebuild, and create something better for the generations that follow.

Where Would You Like to Start?

Women's health

For women who are tired of hearing "everything's normal" when they know something is off. It's time to dig deeper, understand what's really going on, and take your health back into your own hands.

Covers: nutrition, gut health, hormones, environmental load, etc.

Canine health

For dog parents who and know their dog deserves real answers. It's time to dig deeper, understand what's really going on, and help your best friend live their fullest, healthiest life.

Covers: nutrition, gut health, flea and tick, dental health, longevity, etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

For people who know their health doesn't stop at what they eat. It's time to look closer at what's in your home, on your food, and in the environment around you so you can make more informed choices for yourself, your animals, and the planet.

Covers: environmental toxins, pesticides, glyphosate, soil health, gardening, composting, regenerative living, etc.

Why Roots & Paws Exists

Roots & Paws started with a promise I made the night I lost my dog, Jasper.

Twice, I was told he was fine. That same night, I had to say goodbye.

I promised him then that no other pet parent would feel that helpless if I could do anything about it.

Months later, I heard the words: "You have stage 2 breast cancer." I was 37.

In that moment, I knew health was about more than eating well and exercising. Both my health and Jasper's had needed a deeper understanding than either of us ever got.

So I went looking for answers — deep into the research, the science, the questions no one had time to ask in a fifteen-minute appointment.

What I found changed everything: human health, animal health, and the health of the planet were never separate. They're one system.

That's the lesson Roots & Paws exists to teach — for you, and for the ones who depend on you.

The bigger MISSION

Everything We Build Is Building Toward Something More

Every course, resource, and consultation for you or for your dog helps fund Roots & Paws Sanctuary: a future regenerative healing space where people, especially those navigating cancer and other hard seasons, can reconnect with nature, animals, and community. Alongside it, Jasper Jo Co., our nonprofit founded in memory of the dog who started it all, works to expand access to that mission.

A World Out of Balance:

The Hidden Crisis We Can’t Ignore

Mental Health Decline

Mental health in the U.S. is worsening. In 2023, over 1 in 5 adults experienced mental illness, and more than 50% received no treatment. Youth depression rose by 39% in the past decade. Suicide rates increased 37% from 2000 to 2018, now ranking as a leading cause of death.

Soil Degradation

Over 95% of Earth's soil is projected to be degraded by 2050 due to industrial farming. Nutrient loss is alarming. Today, it takes 32 apples to match the nutrients of one apple 40 years ago. This soil depletion contributes to weakened immune systems, chronic illness, and declining human and animal health.

Stress & Burnout

Chronic stress is linked to up to 90% of doctor visits and contributes to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Stress triggers inflammation and hormone imbalance, creating conditions for illness. Studies show high stress increases cancer risk by 50%, and burnout affects 77% of U.S. workers, harming overall health and longevity.

Lack of Connection

Lack of connection fuels loneliness, now affecting 58% of Americans. Isolation increases risk of death by 29%, rivaling smoking. In contrast, Blue Zones (where people live longest) prioritize community, purpose, and daily connection. Strong social ties are proven to boost longevity, resilience, and overall well-being. Community isn’t optional, it’s essential.

Increasing Canine Illness

Canine illness is rising. Over 50% of dogs face chronic conditions like allergies, cancer, or digestive issues. Conventional care often overlooks root causes. Holistic options like gut testing, acupuncture, and nutritional therapy remain inaccessible or unknown to most pet parents. The result: overmedicated dogs and rising veterinary costs with limited solutions.

Failed Adoptions

Up to 20% of adopted dogs are returned, often within six months. Shelter environments cause stress, anxiety, and behavioral issues, masking true personalities. Overcrowded, noisy conditions make it hard for dogs to connect with adopters. Without calm, home-like settings, dogs are misunderstood, leading to failed adoptions and emotional strain for all.
